John Daley Williams, Sr, 76, of Salem and formerly of Lynn and Peabody, died early Wednesday morning at the Advinia Care in Salem following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Joan Davidson with whom he shared 10 years of marriage.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Daley Ray and Alice Elizabeth (Fowler) Williams. He was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1962.
John completed 1 year of college before entering in the work force. He worked for over 25 years as a Computer Analyst for IBM before retiring. Following his retirement John volunteered at the senior center in Marblehead.
John enjoyed photography, computers, golf, music, and playing the saxophone. He also enjoyed watching the Boston’s professional sports teams, especially the Patriots and Red Sox.
Besides his wife Joan, he is survived by his four children, Dawn Beckhusen of Exeter, NH, Deborah Williams and Lori Blake, both of Peabody and by John D. Williams Jr and his wife Jenny of NY. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his former wife who is the mother of his four children, Janet Claire (Smith) Williams, and by his brother Paul Williams.
A private graveside service was held at the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Arrangements were made by the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody.
