Obituary of A. Norma Doolen

Memphis, TN 38105 or St. AdelaidA. Norma (Pedoto) Doolen 95, beloved wife of the late Robert O. Doolen, died Monday, August 31, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Boston and raised in East Boston, she was the daughter of the late Specioso and Josephine (Damico) Pedoto. Mrs. Doolen had owned and operated Norma’s Knitting Machines and Yarn for many years until the time of her retirement in 2003. She also hosted the New England Knitting Machine Seminar for more than twenty years, drawing people from all over the country. A resident of Peabody for the past sixty years and prior to that in Saugus, Mrs. Doolen was an active member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Peabody, a member Peabody Ladies Lodge #1964, OSIA, where she had served as past president, a member of the North Shore Computer Society as well as the North Shore Organ Society. She loved nothing more than cooking and baking for her family. She had a great love for music and knitting. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter, Judith A. Monahan of Peabody, her daughter-in-law, Cynthia Doolen of VT, four grandchildren, Lisa Cerretani and her husband, Gerry, of Peabody, Lorrie Bolanos and her wife, Martha of CA, Robert Doolen and his wife, Robin and Richard Doolen and his wife, April, of VT, thirteen great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, her brother, Joseph Masciulli of Punta Gorda, FL, her Godchild, Veronica Avakian and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Robert O. Doolen Jr. and sister of the late Nancy D. Cayon, Lucille A. Topping and John M. Pedoto. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody, on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial in the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions in place, the family intends to have a Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Adelaide’s Church or the charity of your choice.
