Obituary of Luisa D. Afonso

Luisa D. (Enes) Afonso, 89, of Peabody, died Monday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Manuel Carvalho Afonso. She was born in Saojo, Portugal on August 14, 1931, the daughter of the late Domingos and Beatriz (Capela) Enes and was raised and resided there before moving to the United States in 1966. Luisa had been employed at the Sanmina Company in Wilmington MA for twenty years prior to her retirement. She was very adept with her hands and enjoyed baking her bread and knitting. She also liked working in her vegetable garden but what she cherished most was spending time with her family. She leaves a son and two daughters: Manuel Afonso and his wife Kendra of Stowe, MA, Maria DaSilva and her husband Antonio and Beatriz and her husband Jose Brasileiro all of Peabody, a brother Manuel Enes and his wife Maria of Portugal,her sister-in-law Rosa and her husband Alexander Carvalho of NJ, a brother-in-law, Antonio Afonso of Portugal, her precious grandchildren, Anton and Ashley da Silva, Celina da Silva, Andrea Brasileiro and her fiancé, Brian Duhamel, Tiago and Sofia Brasileiro, Madison and Ava Afonso and her great grandchild, Benjamin Bennett, and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joao Enes and sister-in-law of the late Florinda Enes and Teresa Afonso. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 5 at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church Peabody at 10:00 AM.
