Obituary of Herbert Patten Jr.

Herbert Patten Jr., 85, of South Peabody, died Wednesday at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen after an eight month illness. He was the husband of the late June E. (Boyle) Patten. He was born in Lynn, Ma on June 16, 1921, the son of the late Herbert and Ida (Jones) Patten Sr. and was raised there before moving to Peabody 55 years ago. Mr. Patten had been an assembler at the Jet Engine Division of General Electric in Lynn for 42 years prior to his retirement. He was a veteran of WW 11 serving with the US Army. He enjoyed playing Bingo and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Vicki Patten of Peabody, a daughter-in-law, Ann Patten of Peabody, a sister, Eleanor Donovan of Peabody, 2 grandchildren, Stephen Patten of Beverly and Michael Patten of Gloucester, two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leroy Patten and Vivian Witham. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
