Obituary of Adventino David Orlando Lima

Adventino “David” Orlando Lima, 81, of Peabody died peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of 60 years to the love of his life and spouse Julieta Maria (Botelho) Lima. David was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on January 16, 1939, the son of the late Guilherme and Aurora (Viera) Lima and immigrated to the United States in 1956, then proudly becoming a United States citizen in 1960. He started his new life as a Bus Driver for Michaud Bus Lines Salem, Ma. His career shifted focus to asphalt paving where he became a foreman at Trimount Bituminous Asphalt and Paving Company of Saugus, started his own paving business, Lima and Sons Paving, and worked for various corporate asphalt contractors for over 35 years, ending his career as a Light Plant Operator for the KIEWIT Construction on the Big Dig in Boston. He was always a proud member of the Union 4 International Union of Operating Engineers. Dave was a committed hard worker his entire life to care for the well-being and security of his family, while helping other citizens in the Peabody Portuguese Community to secure jobs in the asphalt industry so that they could support their families as well. Dave and his wife Julieta retired enjoying their winter home in St. Petersburg, Florida where he loved being in the sun, getting that year-round tan, fishing, and playing shuffleboard with family and friends. He was a very kind and caring soul to many and will be dearly missed. A member of the Brotherhood of the Holy Ghost, a devout member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Our Lady of Help Hall and a member and past president of the Club Luis de Camoes, all of Peabody. Besides his wife Julieta, he is survived by his children, Orlando Lima and his wife Paula of Danvers, Victor Lima and his fiancé Debbie Deminna of Windham NH, Carol Bettencourt and her husband Mario of Peabody, his grandchildren, Kendra Maltais and her husband Daniel of Royalston, Michael Lima and his wife Alyssa of Groveland and Nicholas and Alyssa Bettencourt of Peabody. He is also survived by his siblings, Valentim DeLima and his wife Urbina, Joseph Lima and his wife Lillian, Basil Lima, Maria Avila and her husband Manuel, his sister-in-law Delores Luiz, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ulysses, Aristedes “Steve”, Manuel and Ermojenes Lima. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, a private family Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody with a burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, MA 01960 in his memory.
