Obituary of Alden A. Ortins

Alden A. “AL” Ortins, 85, of Danvers, died peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at the Hunt Nursing and Rehab Center , Danvers after a lengthy illness with his family by his side. He was born in Peabody, MA on February 16, 1935, the son of the late Manuel A. and Benvinda (Bettencourt) Ortins and was raised in Peabody and had resided in Danvers most of his life. AL had been a custodian with the Town of Danvers for 27 years in many facilities before retiring from the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers. He was a peacetime veteran serving with the US Army from 1957 until 1959. He was an avid football fan and a season ticket holder of the New England Patriots for several years. He had a passion for animals, especially his dogs, “Buddy” and “Kiki” but his most precious time was spent with his family. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Celeste Ortins of Danvers, a daughter, Faith Ortins and her husband, Jeff Hannigan of Eugene, Oregon, a granddaughter, Jordan Ortins of Danvers, a sister-in-law, Ann Ortins of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. Al was the brother of the late Anthony, Joseph, Arthur and Leon Ortins, Irene Marie Ortins, Lebia DeCosta and Zulmira Medina. He was the former husband of the late Charlotte (Willette) Ortins. A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Tuesday at 9:15 AM. Burial will be held in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem MA. Those attending the Visitation and Service are required to wear a mask and abide by social distancing regulations.
