Obituary of Gloria L. Deveaux

Gloria L. Deveaux, 96, longtime resident of Peabody, passed away September 29 at the Cedar View Rehabilitation in Methuen, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Edgar G. Deveaux. Born in East Boston, on February 28, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Pasquale and Ermilinda (Barbato) Garofalo. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a bakery clerk. She enjoyed going to the Peabody Senior Center everyday up until the pandemic struck, most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Robert E. Deveaux and his wife Sandra of Amesbury, Nancy Crean and her husband Philip of Salisbury, Melinda Preece of North Conway, NH; her grandchildren, Dawn, Alicia, Julie, Lisa, Melanie, Joshua, Jared; 14 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Brian Preece, and her siblings, Jean Mini, Luigi Garofalo, Michael Garofalo, and Eleanor Maloney. A visitation will be held Friday, October 2, from 11A.M. to 12:15P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody, followed by a funeral mass in St. John’s Church at 12:30P.M.
