Obituary of Rafael J. Hernandez

Peabody – Rafael J. Hernandez Sr. 82, beloved husband of Maudrie M. (Guidry) Hernandez, died Saturday, October 10, 2020 at the Ledgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Beverly. Born and raised in Cuba, he was the son of the late Rafael and Maria (Dunand) Hernandez. He came to the United States to continue his education earning a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern Louisiana University. He then earned his master’s degree in engineering from Northeastern University on Boston. Mr. Hernandez had been employed for many years as a senior project engineer for GTE Sylvania at its Sylvan Street Plant in Danvers until the time of his retirement. A resident of Peabody for the past fifty-two years, he was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife with whom he shared fifty-six years of marriage, he is survived by his son, Rafael J. Hernandez Jr. of Peabody, a sister, Maria Fernandez of New Jersey and many nieces and nephews. His funeral services will be private. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody, MA 01960.
