Obituary of Lucinda M. Almeida

Lucinda (Lopes) Almeida, 93, of Peabody, wife of the late George Almeida with whom she shared 50 years of marriage, died at her home with her caregiving daughter, Brenda Kenney and her husband Richard Kenny, who were her caregivers for the past 22 years. Mrs. Almeida was born in Peabody, on September 7, 1927, daughter of the late Alberto and Alzira (Andrade) Lopes. At age 4, following her mother’s death her family moved to Gauveia, Portugal, and returned to Peabody 12 years later. She finished her studies in Peabody, residing in Peabody for the rest of her life. Mrs. Almeida enjoyed traveling with her daughter and son-in-law to their home in Florida and camp in Rochester, New Hampshire. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Almeida was a well-known member of the Portuguese Community in Peabody. She leaves her grandchildren Tara and Michael Demaso of Salisbury, Meagan and Paul Tanglis of North Andover, Matthew Kenney of Peabody; her great-grandchildren Caylee and Ashlee Demaso, and Kelsey and Paul Tanglis. She is also predeceased by her grandson, Chester (Chip) Hincman. She also leaves a daughter, Linda Hincman and her husband Chet, and a son George Almeida and his wife Linda. She leaves her grandchildren Laura Humphrey, Matthew Almeida, Lindsey and Mike Welch, and Lisa Hincman. Also her great-granchildren Courtney and Mikayla Hincman, Logan, Taya and Ella Humphrey and Charlotte and Sam Welch. She leaves her sisters Carmelita Marques of Salem, Ascencao Marques and Doriette Pacienca, both of Portugal, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters Maria Coito and husband Thomas, Alzira Bettencourt and husband Manuel; her brothers, Antonio and wife Maria, Americo and wife Lorraine, and Albert Lopes and wife Irene, all of Peabody. Services for Lucinda will be held privately. If you would like to send flowers, please have them delivered to the funeral home by Monday, October 19, afternoon.
