Obituary of Joel Henry Murphy

Joel Henry Murphy, 70, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday October 13, 2020 at his home. Born in Peabody, he was the beloved son of the late Edward J. and Agnes M. (Mozer) Murphy. Joel was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody Vocational High School, class of 1969. Joel was a machinist by trade and had worked for several companies on the North Shore. He was a dedicated associate member of the VFW in Peabody. Joel wished to be remembered as the type of person who tried his best to be a truthful and honest man, and not hold any grudges or ill will towards anyone. Joel is survived by his two daughters, Karyn Murphy Hebert of Danvers and Jana Murphy of Middleton, his beloved 5 grandchildren, Sarah and Matthew Watson, Coleman and Jacob Hebert and Nora Griffin and his great grandchild, Dylan O’Brien. He is also survived by his brother, William Murphy of Peabody, his two nephews and niece, Roger, Barry, and Christy Murphy. He was predeceased by his brother, Roger Murphy. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11:00 AM in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody, MA to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well.
