Obituary of Charles John Helas

Charles John Helas, 65, of Peabody, passed away on Friday October 23, 2020 surrounded by his family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late John K and Vasilia (Patsiaris) Helas. Charlie was a life-long resident of Peabody who was known by many. He graduated from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1973. Charlie worked for the city of Peabody for over 30 years for the Department of Public Works. He was an avid softball player and enjoyed hunting and golfing as well. One of his true joys in life was coaching and watching his children play sports. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Charlie is survived by his two children, MaryKate and Charles Helas, both of Peabody and whom he loved dearly. He also leaves many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends whom he considered family. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the family lot in Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 R Cedar Grove Ave, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well.
