I worked with Danny in the early 80’s in a nursing home kitchen. He was liked by everyone and made everyone smile and more likely laugh! He even made institutional food taste good, no easy task. His tuna salad was the best I ever had. In the all-female kitchen, he wouldn’t let any of us lift the heavy pots. We missed that when he left in the summers to work at the owner’s restaurant. Being a cook/supervisor, I learned a lot about cooking from him, he always shared his recipes and taught whatever he knew, something not all chefs did.
He talked a lot about his family and you could feel the love and pride he had for them. I’m grateful that I knew him.
