Obituary of David R Cross, Sr

David R. Cross, Sr. 83, died Tuesday, November 10, 2020 in the Salem Hospital following an extended illness. He was the husband of Anita (Cormier) Cross. Born in Beverly on August 15, 1937, he was the son of the late Stephen I. and Grace M. (Hooper) Cross. He was a graduate of Beverly High School class of 1957. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1965. He had resided in Myrtle Beach, SC before returning to Beverly. David was employed as an assembler at the General Electric Co., River Works Plant in Lynn for twenty years before retiring in 1999. He had also worked as a station manager for the former Summit Air Freight at Logan Airport and as a machinist at Fairview Machine in Topsfield. He loved boating and fishing in Maine and New Hampshire and working on automobiles. He enjoyed military history, aviation and the New England Patriots. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four sons, David Cross, Jr. of Bradford, Mark Cross and his wife, Kim of Beverly, Randy Cross of Beverly and Scott Cross and his wife, Hope of Marlborough; six grandchildren, Katelyn Baginski, Cameron, Aaron, Jacob, Caleb and Avery Cross; sister-in-law, Rachel Cross of Danvers and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his sister, Gloria Hughes and three brothers, Stephen, Donald and Robert Cross. Visitation will be held on Sunday in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody from 1 – 3 P.M. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Assoc., 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well.
