Obituary of Doria Yaskell

Doria Yaskell, 95, of Peabody, was peacefully lifted to Heaven Friday evening (Nov. 13) at her residence, following a brief illness, with her 2 loving daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Myron Yaskell, with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. Doria was born in Salem, MA on December 6, 1924, daughter of the late Panko and Katrina (Ossolinski) Shaluk. She was raised and educated in Salem, graduating from Salem High School, Class of 1942. Throughout her life, Doria had worked a variety of jobs, including helping her parents at their grocery store, K & P Grocery, located between Union and Herbert Streets in Salem, and as an office clerk/secretary at Pequot Mills, Gale Shoe, and Metal Hydrides. For over 50 years she had worked as a bookkeeper at Joe’s Auto Laundry in Salem. In her youth she volunteered at the House of Seven Gables, was very active in Girl Scouting both as a youngster and with her daughters and enjoyed polka dancing with her husband. She is survived by her loving daughters, Tina Yaskell and her husband Robert Cahee of Bourne, MA, Darice Yaskell of Salem, MA, several nieces and nephews, her dear friends Joan Cahee and Marigeri Parks. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Amelia and Stephen Bik. Special thank you to her caregiving team from VNA Hospice Care for providing compassion, care, comfort and support during the past few months. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18, from 10 – 11A.M. at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Theophan Whitfield of St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Salem officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
