Obituary of Mary Nickitopoulos

Mary Nickitopoulos, 94, of Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late George and Eugenia (Macropoulos) Nickitopoulos. She was a life-long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School. After high school, Mary started working as a bookkeeper for Sylvania which later became GTE Sylvania and retired after many years of service. Mary was a lifelong member of the St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody where she was a former Sunday School Teacher and member of the Daughters of Penelope. Mary enjoyed traveling worldwide with friends and family and enjoyed doing Japanese Bunka Embroidery as well. Mary is survived by many relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her siblings, Steve, Sophia, and Helen Nickitopoulos. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 9:00 until 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody, followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Daughters of Penelope Chapter 130, 162 Goddard Ave, Brookline, MA 02445.
