Obituary of Dolores M. Lohring

Peabody - Dolores “Dutch” M. (Klus) Lohring, 84, of Peabody died Friday November 20, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Garwood Lohring with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Salem, MA., on January 1, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Jennie (Lojko) Klus, and the late John Klus of California and was raised in Salem. She attended St John’s Polish Parochial School and graduated from Salem High School. She was proud of her Polish heritage and had a wonderful childhood in the Polish community in the Derby Street area of Salem. Following high school, she was employed as a switchboard operator for New England Telephone in Beverly and Marblehead. She later worked at Raytheon, High Voltage Engineering, Eaton Corp & Axcelis. She met her husband Gar, who was stationed at the Coast Guard Base at Winter Island. Dolores was a great cook and enjoyed having her family for Sunday dinner each week. She loved traveling; her favorite places were Cape Cod, Ocean City NJ, California, Aruba and NYC to see her grandson, Kris. Her greatest happiness in life were her two grandchildren, Meaghan and Kris, who brought her so much joy. She was a generous and loving person, had and her family was blessed. Dolores is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Jim Hughes of Peabody, her son, Christopher Lohring of Gloucester, her precious grandchildren, Meaghan Coughlin of Somerville, and Kristopher Coughlin of Peabody, a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Victor Unhao of Peabody, brother-in-law, Bob Mather of Laurel Springs NJ., and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful lifelong friends, Marion Chronis of Georgetown and Joanne Cunningham of Salem and her favorite hairdresser, Elaine Meador. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
