Obituary of Peter M Doherty

Peter M Doherty, 55, of Peabody, died peacefully at Beverly Hospital on Monday November 16, 2020 following a brief illness. Peter grew up in Malden and later moved to Peabody where he resided for many years with his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and William Smith. Eventually Peter moved into a Group Home Residence, first in Beverly for several years and then in Peabody for this past year. Peter’s Group Home Residence were managed by Turning Point Inc of Newburyport who cared for Peter with lots of love and respect for many years. Peter was also involved with Bass River Adult Day Care for over 25 years which he enjoyed through those years. Peter was quiet, but very witty, funny, very friendly, and so loving. Peter loved music and dancing and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Peter is survived by his brother John “Jackie” Doherty who cared for Peter for so many years. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Kathy A Carlson-Smith of Peabody and longtime family friend Karen Coombes of Revere. Peter is predeceased by his mother and father, his sister and brother-in-law Mary and William Smith, and his brother Joseph Smith. A private family funeral service was held on Friday at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody with burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
