Obituary of Frank P. "Shrimp" Trabucco Sr.
Frank P. “Shrimp” Trabucco Sr., 92, of Peabody, husband of the late Mary L. (Gelott) Trabucco, died Monday afternoon at his home surrounded by his family.
Mr. Trabucco was born April 2, 1914 in Patterson, New Jersey son of the late Dino and Anna (Tilly) Trabucco. He was raised in Salem and Peabody graduating from Peabody High School. During his high school years he was a great athlete who was the Captain of his Salem High School Basketball Team and who also played football at both the Salem and Peabody High Schools. He resided in Peabody for most of his life.
Mr. Trabucco was employed by the City of Peabody as a custodian for 18 years at the Kiley Brother Memorial School until his retirement in 1982. Prior to this, he held the same position at Salem Sate College in Salem for 3 yrs. He began working career as a leather worker and later worked as a machinist at the United Company in Lynn. In addition to being a great athlete in High School, he enjoyed swimming, diving, water skiing, fishing and boating. At age 74 he began playing horseshoe, was a member of the Hamilton Horseshoe Club, and played until 83 years of age. In 1994, he was the Massachusetts State Horseshoe Singles Champion in Class H and in 1997 the Friends of Danvers 1st place horseshoe winner.
He is survived by his 2 sons and their wives, William F. “Bill” and Yvonne Trabucco of Beverly, Frank P. “Buddy”Trabucco Jr. and Joan Trabucco of Peabody; a daughter and her husband, Bonnie L. and Roger Gallant of Peabody; his 10 grandchildren, Lisa and Stuart Katz, Amy and Peter Capalbo of Beverly, Mark and Suzanna Trabucco, Anne Trabucco, Michelle, Phillip and Denise Gallant all of Peabody; 5 great grandchildren, Nicholas and Matthew Trabucco of Peabody, Nicholas, Sophia and MaryElla Capalbo of Beverly and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Ann Sullivan, Josephine Hamilton, Esther “Babe” Henry and Al Trabucco.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (new location) Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. Following the service his burial of ashes will be held in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
