Obituary of Venus (Gopoian) Mahoney

Venus (Gopoian) Mahoney, 73, of Kennebunk, Maine, and formerly of Somerville and Peabody, died peacefully Sunday evening at the York Hospital in York, Maine following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of Harold Mahoney. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Markar and Nartouhie (Tatian) Gopoian. She was raised and educated in Somerville, later lived in Peabody and has spent he last four years living in Kennebunk, Maine. She was a secretary for over 16 years with the General Electric Company Riverworks Plant in Lynn before her retirment. In addition to her work, she voluntereed countless hours for the homeless veterans in the area. She also was a member of the Ladie Auxiliary, Post 227 in Middleton, MA. Besides her loving husband, Harold, she is survived by her loving step children, Kyle A., Daniel J., Lynn Marie, Jill, and Margaret, her brother Mike and his wife Phyllis Gopoian of Stratham, NH, and was the loving grandmother of Elizabeth, Patrick, Sam, and Molly, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John and Jacob Gopoian. Her funeral service will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Adelaide’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Homeless Veteran’s, 546-2 State House, Boston, Ma 02133.
