Obituary of Daniel J Gorman

"May the road rise with you, May the wind be always at your back, May the sun shine warm upon your face, And rains fall soft upon your fields. And until we meet again, may God keep you in the hollow of His hand" Daniel J Gorman, 74, of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Tuesday December 8, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Rachel (Collier) Gorman. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Daniel Edward and Evelyn R (Earle) Gorman. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1963. Upon his graduation, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served for over 3 years before his honorable discharge in 1967. After his discharge, he enrolled at the University of South Florida and received his bachelor’s degree in 1971. After graduation, Daniel worked in the restaurant industry for many years before he started working for the United States Post Office as a rural letter carrier in Ipswich, a career that lasted over 20 years before he retired. Daniel was an avid dart player who was well known and was well respected in the dart community. He was a life-time member of the Peabody/Lynn Elks. Besides his wife Rachel, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Lee and Steve Carnes of GA, his beloved grandchildren, Jaymee Danielle and her husband Jason Acton, Jack Elliot Carnes and Jessica Nicole Sims, and by his two great grandchildren, Jacob Henry Jones and Landon Gage Sims, all of GA. Due to the coronavirus and safety concerns a celebration of his life will be held later next year.
