Obituary of Frances X Tambini

Frances X (King) Tambini, 85, of Peabody and formerly of Swampscott, died Wednesday morning at her home surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of William M Tambini with whom she shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ethel (Underhill) King. She was raised and educated in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1952. She later lived in Saugus and Lynn and has spent the past 52 years living in Peabody. She raised her children with love and devotion and was always there for them. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her five grandchildren. Once her children had grown, she began an 18-year career working as a hostess and functions manager at the former Romies’s Quarterdeck Restaurant in Danvers where she was well-known for her outgoing personality. Towards the end of her career, she was the hostess at the Wardhurst restaurant in Peabody before she finally retired. Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her three sons and two daughters, James Gaffney of Cambridge, Michael Tambini of Havre de Grace, MD, William Gaffney of Peabody, Lori and her husband Peter Schultz of Tewksbury, and Desiree and her husband Dave McBride of St. Paul, MN. She is also survived by her sister Joyce Brennan of Peabody, her brothers, Albert King, Jr and his wife Larraine of West Springfield and Peter and his wife Judy Maunsell of Maui, HI, her beloved five grandchildren, Mary, John, and Brendan McBride, and Marcella and Michael Tambini. She was predeceased by her brother George Maunsell. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody and her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM at St. Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody.
