Obituary of Maureen M. Gargas

Peabody – Maureen M. (Bradley) Gargas 88, beloved wife of the late James Gargas, died Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Metro West Medical Center in Framingham. Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Dennis J. and Lena (Donnellan) Bradley. She received her education in the Peabody school system and graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Gargas had been employed for many years by the City of Peabody as the librarian at the Peabody Library as well as a secretary at the Brown Elementary School. A longtime resident of Peabody, Mrs. Gargas was an active member of St. Ann’s Church in Peabody where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Bereavement Group at the church. She also volunteered at My Brother’s Table in Lynn and loved going on outings at Nahant Beach and Lake Winnipesaukee with her children. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. Surviving her are four daughters, Sharyn Walczewski and her husband, Richard of Acton, Teresa Costello and her husband, Ray of Holliston, Sandra Godschall and her husband, Jim of Hudson, NH and Julie Mozzer and her husband, Mike of West Newbury, three sons, James Gargas and his wife, Brenda of Fremont, NH, John Gargas of Newton and Greg Gargas and his wife, Lynne of Pepperell, eighteen grandchildren, Steven, Kristen, Jay, Matthew, Elizabeth, the late Nolan, Anna, Heather, Michael, Cameron, Lindsey, Raymond Jr., Kendra, Nicole, Ryan, James, Nicholas and Julianne, six great grandchildren, Alexandra, Jordan, Aubrey, Bryce, Olivia and Kasey, a sister, Colleen Kolodziej and her husband, Thomas of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Eugene Bradley and his late wife, Joan. Arrangements: Due to Covid-19, a private funeral Mass was held at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody on Tuesday, December 22nd for immediate family. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to My Brothers Table, 98 Willow St., Lynn, MA 01901.
