Obituary of Maria F. Fazendeiro

Maria F. Fazendeiro, 97, of Peabody, passed away Monday, December 21, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Joaquim Fazendeiro, who passed away in 1995. Maria was born on May 1, 1923, in Vila Real, Portugal, daughter of the late Jaime F. Capela and Etelvina R. (Pinho) Capela. She was raised and educated in Portugal, prior to immigrating to the United States. Once settled in the United States, Maria had worked as a seamstress for many years. She was also very instrumental in sponsoring many family and friends immigrating from Portugal. Her faith was a primary importance in her life, being a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Peabody, attending mass multiple times a week. She also enjoyed reading, watching her Portuguese soap operas “Novelas”, traveling back and forth to Portugal for many years, and spending time with her grandchildren and family. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jaime and Linda Sabino of North Attleboro; a daughter-in-law, Susan Sabino of Peabody; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Enrique Capela, Rosa Pinho, and Berta Pinto, all of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Luis Sabino. Services for Maria will be held privately. Donations may be made in her memory to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody, MA 01960.
