Jose Videira

Obituary of Jose Zanoni Videira

It is with profound sadness that we share José Z. Videira, age 83, passed away on Christmas Eve after a long illness surrounded by his loving family. Although born and raised in Pinhanços, Portugal, he made Peabody his home. He was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima often seen attending mass, singing the hymns, or leading the processions. In his past times, he loved tending to his garden and sharing his produce with all. Most of all he loved being with his family; in particular his granddaughters who brought him countless joy. He looked forward to visiting Portugal every year in order to see his siblings. However, it was his granddaughters, Liana and Ayva, that brought him the most joy. He loved singing and sharing his wisdom with them. Surviving him is his beloved wife of 35 years, Maria Dinora Videira; his adored daughter and son-in law Unelia and David Bettencourt; his granddaughters Liana and Ayva; his nephew, Joseph Martins and his children, Alexander and Jacob Martins; his niece, Maria Glavin and fiancé Anthony Rogato and children, Christina Glavin, Diana Malerba and her husband Dominic Malerba, and Michael Glavin; a brother, Antonio Videira, and two sisters, Beatriz Carvalho and Alzira Neves from Portugal; their children; and the children of his predeceased siblings that currently reside in Portugal and France. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, December 29 from 10:30-12p, followed by a Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 12:30p, and will be laid to rest at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
