Obituary of Raul Pinheiro

Raul Pinheiro, 65, of Peabody, passed away Saturday, December 26th, 2020 at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, MA. Born in Terceira, Azores (Portugal), he was the son of the late Francisco and Maria Nazare Valadao Pinheiro. He was born and raised in Terceira, Azores before immigrating to the United States in his early 20’s. He settled in Salem and had two sons before moving to Peabody to raise his family. Raul achieved the American Dream through his hard work, oftentimes working multiple jobs to help support his family. His children were able to see firsthand the importance of this hard work. Most recently, he worked at Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School in the Farming Department before his retirement. Raul was always willing to offer a helping hand to family and friends or someone that he had never met that would soon become a new friend. Whether you were part of his large family, a friend or even an animal, he was always at his happiest when in the company of others. Raul was very active in the Portuguese Community. He served as the President of the Holy Ghost Society, and was a member of various clubs, including The Club Luis de Camoes and Our Lady of Help Hall. He was also actively involved with the Dancas de Carnival for over 20 years. Raul is survived by the mother of his children, Maria Salome (Nunes) Pinheiro, his son, Michael Pinheiro of Peabody, his son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Cherie Pinheiro of North Reading, as well has his grandchildren, Brandon and Miranda who knew him as Grandpa Raul and another granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his sisters, Maria Rico and Fatima Pinheiro, both of Terceira, Adelaide Lourenco of California, Encarnacao Dinis and Lucia Melo, both of Canada, and his brother, Ramiro Pinheiro of Terceira. He is also survived by his sister and brothers-in-law, Alda and Jose Cunha of Maine, Filomena Vieira of Peabody, Eulalia Borges of California, and Margarida Nunes of Terceira. Raul was a proud godfather of six, Ana Paula Enes of California, Stephanie Ellis and Stephen Cunha of Maine, Maria de Conceicao Brasil of Terceira, Tanya Pinheiro of Canada, and Kayla Rosa of Peabody. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Manuel, Francisco, Jose, Joao, and Alexandre Pinheiro. He was also predeceased by his brother-in-law, Alexandre Vieira, Luis Enes and Manuel Nunes. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 30th from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody shortly after the Funeral Service. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing.
