Obituary of Leondina Batista Cerqueira

Leoninda Batista Cerqueira, 92, of Middleton, died Saturday, December 26 2020 at the Lahey Medical Center, Burlington after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Jose Cerqueira Amorim. She was born in Ponte de Barca, Portugal on September 11, 1928, the daughter of the late Antonio and Maria do Carmo Batista Cerqueira and was raised and resided there before immigrating to the United States of America. Leondina enjoyed traveling the World, doing her gardening, watching t he Portuguese News and regaled in telling her stories at family gatherings. She is survived by her two daughters; Maria Alice Amorim Azevedo and her husband Jose M. Azevedo of Methuen and Idalina Amorim Azevedo and her husband Luis L. Azevedo of Middleton ; her precious grandchildren, Renato F. Azevedo, Orlando C. Azevedo, Milena Azevedo Kirchner and Edgar A. Azevedo; her great grandchildren, Aiden Azevedo, Sofia Azevedo, Dylan Azevedo, James Kirchner, Noemia Azevedo and Jackson Azevedo and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St. (Next to City Hall) in Peabody MA. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden, MA . Due to Covid-19,. Those attending the Services are required to wear Masks and practice social distancing.
