Obituary of Dolores Silva
Peabody – Ottilia Dolores (Marshall) Silva 89, beloved wife of Joseph A. Silva, died Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at home following a long illness with her husband and two sons by her side.
Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Margaret (Silveria) Marshall. She received her education in the Peabody school system and graduated from Peabody High School, class of 1949.
Dolores had been employed for many years as a salesclerk at the former Ann & Hope department store in Danvers until the time of her retirement.
A lifelong resident of Peabody, she was an active communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church where she was a member of the entertainment committee and volunteered for many groups within the church including the Children’s Closet and knitting prayer afghans. Dolores was also an active member of the Portuguese-American War Veterans Post #1 of Peabody and a longtime former member of the Blue Angels and Chuting Stars Drum & Bugle Corp in Danvers. She enjoyed traveling to the islands with their friends as well as wintering in Marco Island, Florida and hosting their grandchildren for the past twenty years. She also kept her mother’s family tradition of hosting Sunday family dinners. Dolores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, with whom she shared seventy years of marriage, she is survived by two sons, Robert M. Silva and his wife, Patricia and Brian J. Silva and his wife, Denise all of Peabody, five grandchildren, Melissa Silva, Robert M. Silva Jr. and his wife, Erin, Tricia Davis and her husband, Ryan, Samantha Silva and Courtney Silva, seven great grandchildren, Briana, Tyler, Alexandra, Sean, Emily, Noah and Bryson great-great grandchildren, Ethan and Aubree and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Leonard and Joseph Marshall.
ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St., Peabody, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Portuguese-American War Veterans, 103 Tremont St., Peabody, MA 01960.
