Obituary of Marianne F Gardner

Marianne F. (Giglio) Gardner, 92, formerly of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 3, 2021. She was the loving mother of three daughters, grandmother of five, and devoted wife of 52 years to the late Paul Gardner of Peabody. Marianne was born in Boston, MA on May 5, 1928, to the late Caterina (Vanella) Giglio and Ignazio Giglio. She and her three sisters were raised in the North End, and Marianne was fiercely proud of her Sicilian heritage. She graduated from Girls’ High in Boston in 1945. Marianne enjoyed her work and described herself as a “career girl” prior to her marriage to Paul in 1964. Marianne loved to dance, listen to music, and would strike up a friendly conversation with everyone she met. She was a proud member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary, Post 1011 in Peabody for many years. Her family would like to thank the hard-working and dedicated staff at Masconomet Health Care and Care Dimensions Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Marianne is survived by her loving children; Judy Fitzpatrick and her husband Kevin of Dover, NH, Lisa Ballard and her husband Brian of Lynn, MA, and Paula Seeley and her husband Kenneth of Beverly, MA; her grandchildren Eric and Angela Seeley, and Katie, Sarah, and Kelly Fitzpatrick. She is also survived by her sisters whom she loved dearly; Rosalie Giglio of Somerville MA, Angela Carangelo of Boston, MA, and Vita Falzone and her husband Sonny of Weymouth, MA, as well as many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, from 3-5 PM at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home in Peabody. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 11 at St. John the Baptist Church in Peabody at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
