Rose Marie Spinelli

Obituary of Rose Marie Spinelli

Rose Marie Spinelli, 89, passed away peacefully Sunday evening at her residence in the presence of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Edward Spinelli, Jr. Rose Marie was born in Boston, MA, on April 19, 1931, daughter of the late John and Helen (Squires) Hayes. She grew up in Revere where she attended and graduated from Revere High School Class of 1949. Rose Marie spent her younger adult years tending to the needs of her children and eventually she became a full-time babysitter for most of her grandchildren. She enjoyed hosting many parties and family get togethers. Rose loved the years she and her family spent summering on Little Neck in Ipswich. She could be found many nights at the ceramic studio where she created many great pieces. She had a great passion for dogs and chocolate. The Home for Little Wanderers was an organization close to Rose Marie’s heart where she volunteered for many years. She was happiest while spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandson, all of whom she couldn't help but spoil. Rose was fortunate enough to have several dear friends who, over the years, became her extended family. She was famously known as Auntie Rose or Rosie to so many. She is survived by her children, Stephen and Donna Spinelli of Beverly, Kathy and Gary McCarthy of Peabody, Cindy and Jim Burns of Ipswich; her 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Patricia (Travers) and Carolyn Spinelli; Katie and Daniel McCarthy; and James and Erin Burns; a great-grandson, Rory. Services for Rose Marie will be privately held due to COVID. Her family looks forward to celebrating her life at a later date when all can attend. Donations may be made in her memory to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or to VNA Hospice Care, 199 Rosewood Drive, Suite 180, Danvers, MA 01923.
