Obituary of John Russell "Jack" Phillips
John Russell “Jack” Phillips, 78, of Peabody, died Monday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Center, Peabody after a brief illness. He was born in Lynn on August 15, 1928, the son of the late Herbert and Margaret (Caden) Philips and resided all his life in Peabody.
He was employed at the former Ivory System in Peabody and later in Salem for over 20 years prior to his retirement.
He had been a life member of the Leo Council, #508, Knights of Columbus of Peabody.
He enjoyed watching the Boston Sports especially the Bruins and Red Sox. An avid walker he made daily walks to Salem, Danvers and Lynn.
He is survived by his cousins and their families, Judith and Stephen Dartt of Peabody and their children, Kristen Brunet of Worcester, Richard and Tammy Brunet and their son Kyle Brunet all of San Antonio, TX., Edward “Ned” Caden and his family, Edward and Nicole Caden and their son Andrew all of Gloucester, Helen and John Mac Namara and their children John and Michael of Hicksville, L.I., New York and Laurie Caden of Danvers, and Charles Caden of Tampa Fl.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
