Obituary of Warren Thomas Kolhonen

Peabody – Warren Thomas Kolhonen 78, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home in Peabody. Also known as “Tom”, he was born on September 9, 1942, the younger child of Werner and Katherine “Kay” (Lyons) Kolhonen. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Anne. Warren had resided in Peabody until he was fifteen years old, when his family moved to Beverly, where he graduated from Beverly High School, class of 1961. Following high school, he spent 35 years working in the laundry department at Beverly Hospital and after his retirement from there, he went on to work for many years in hotel security until retiring approximately five years ago. Anyone who took the time to get to know Warren, found him to be a quiet but sweet and thoughtful man who enjoyed watching sports and could talk ratings and players with the most avid sports fans. He also enjoyed the History Channel and long walks around his neighborhood. Family members were often surprised by his quiet but quick wit. He is survived by, and will be greatly missed by, his cousins, Faye Kolhonen and her husband, Warren’s good friend, Dan Johnson of Peabody and Joanne Howland of Wenham and many other cousins around the country. His funeral service will be held graveside, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 Cedar Grove Ave., Peabody, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. Arrangements by the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Citizens Inn, 81 Main St., Peabody, MA 01960.
