Obituary of Vincent P. Stasio

Vincent P. Stasio, 82, of Peabody, died Monday at his home surrounded by his family after a year long illness. He was the husband of Virginia (Pittman) Stasio with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He was born in East Boston on September 16, 1924, the son of the late Emilio H. and Rose (King) Stasio and was raised there and graduated from Boston English where he played Football and Track. He then entered the US Navy in 1943 serving in the Pacific theatre campaign during WW II as a distinguished veteran prior to his discharge in 1946. Following his discharge, he entered Northeastern University and received a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was first employed at the Jet Engine division of General Electric in Lynn and later was employed as a manager in the computer division for the Honeywell - Bull Company in Waltham for over 20 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Stasio was a member and later chairman of the Peabody Industrial Commission that was formed to start the Peabody Industrial Park in Peabody. He was an avid golfer and member of the Salem Country Club in Peabody. Mr. Stasio was also involved in the formation of the Peabody Youth Hockey Program and served on the board for many years. Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Cindi Stasio of Peabody and Paul and Denise Stasio of Bedford, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Rino Maffeo of Beverly, a sister, Mary Stasio of Andover, five grandchildren, Alyse and Amanda Stasio of Peabody, and Andrea, Kimberly and James Stasio of Bedford, NH and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St. Peabody facility. His Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Peabody.
