Obituary of Cecile M Belanger

Cecile M (LaPorte) Belanger, 90, of Peabody, died early Monday morning in Peabody following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Leon J Belanger. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florida (Bilodeau) LaPorte. She was raised and educated in Salem, later lived in Tewksbury for forty years and has spent the last 14 years living in Peabody. Cecile worked at Sylvania in Danvers as an assembler and later at the distribution center for Marshalls in Woburn for many years before she retired. She enjoyed knitting, spending time at the family camp at Balch Lake in Wakefield, NH, doing jigsaw puzzles and playing cards with her sisters and granddaughter. She was an avid fan of both the Red Sox and Patriots. Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and sharing in all of their activities. She is survived by her five children, Dorothy and her husband Gregory Hughes of Rochester, NH, Richard and his wife Patricia Belanger of Peabody, Kathleen and her husband Searle Hay of Methuen, John Belanger and his wife Susan Kelly of Hudson, NH, and Mark and his wife Amy Belanger of Peabody, her siblings, Germaine Benjamin of Preston, CT, Dorothy Joly of Danvers, and is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Cynthia Bickford, Shawn Cunningham, Kimberly Karner, Julee Holland, Jeffrey Belanger, Matthew Hay, Cherilyn Hays, Jason Budde, Mark Helwig, and Corissa Belanger, and by her three great grandchildren, Dylan, Kyle, and Tyler and by her life-long friend, Eileen Martin of Peabody. She was predeceased by her sister, Lucille LaPorte. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. All attendees are required to wear facial coverings and maintain social distancing as well.
