Obituary of Thomas P Towey, II

Thomas P. Towey II, 91, beloved husband of 56 yrs. to the late Margaret (Cloherty) Towey, died Monday, February 8, 2021 at Seasons Assisted Living in Danvers from Covid19. He was the son of the late Thomas P. 1st and Marietta (Alcock) Towey and lived his whole life in Peabody. He grew up in south Peabody, attended Brown school, and graduated from Peabody High. He also earned an engineering degree from Franklin Institute of Technology in Boston. An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of United States Army and was a member of the DAV. Mr. Towey had been employed for over twenty years by the Health Department of Peabody until the time of his retirement. Prior to that he worked for many years as a homebuilder for the family business, Towey Construction in Peabody. Active in the community and many civic organizations, he was a long-time member/financial officer of A.O.H. in Peabody, past Commander/current member of the American Legion, life member/past Exalted Ruler of the Peabody Elks. He was one of the founding fathers and commissioner of the Peabody Mens Intra-City Softball League. An avid golfer, in retirement, Tom enjoyed golfing daily from the beginning of the season to the day they closed due to snow at the Old Salem Greens Municipal Golf Course in Salem. Surviving him are his two sons, Thomas P. Towey III of Peabody and John E. Towey and his wife, Linda of Lynn, his daughter, Patricia A. Towey of Peabody, two grandchildren, Sheila K. Towey and her fiancé, Nicholas Pointer, and Thomas P. Towey IV all of Peabody, and his sister-in-law, Miriam Towey of Alexandria, VA. He was also the father of the late Kathleen Towey and brother of the late Carroll Towey and Francis Towey. His funeral service will be held graveside, at the Cedar Grove Cemetery, 100 Cedar Grove Ave., Peabody, Friday, February 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. All attendees are required to wear a mask or 2 and STRONGLY adhere to ALL social distancing CDC guidelines.
