Obituary of Colleen M. Cody

Peabody - A wonderful, witty, loving, feisty, bright light left us today February 13, 2021. Colleen Marie Cody Nalven died peacefully, with her beloved daughter, Alexandra and Aunt Anne by her side. Colleen was 63. Born to Eileen (Dudley) Cody of Danvers and the late Paul Cody on November 10, 1957, in Salem, MA. Colleen moved to Boxford, MA in 1971. As Colleen’s close friend from this time on says: ‘Our journey as best friends began at age 14 when we were in 9th grade at Masconomet High School. Our main concerns were what outfit to wear the next day, who the hot guys were and who was dating whom, all of which took up hours each day on the only landlines in our homes and, much to our parents’ dismay, what rules we could break next. And while both of us being frequently grounded, may or may not have occurred, Colleen’s devoted and loving parents guided and supported her through it all. We upended our parents peaceful homes but laughed ourselves silly and loved every minute together. Luckily, we went on to become sensible, productive adults, but the unbridled joy of our youth and close friendship stayed with us right up until today’. Colleen went on to get her undergraduate and graduate degrees in International Tax Accounting from Bentley College and had a successful career for 40 years. The happiest moments of her adult life were when she married her husband, Glenn Nalven on September 12th, 1998, and they welcomed their daughter, Alexandra on May 25th, 2000. Colleen was beaming and so full of true joy and told everyone, “they are the lights of my life.” Her smile, beautiful shining eyes, tenacity, humor, love, and friendship will be missed, but she will be so happy to be with her beloved Dad, Paul, again in Heaven.” ARRANGEMENTS: Her funeral will be held from the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers at 10:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in the Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. All attendees are required to wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Colleen’s memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital, Development Office, 125 Nashua St., Suite 540, Boston, MA 02114 (www.giving.massgeneral.org).
