Obituary of Jose A. Silveira

Jose A. Silveira, 59, of Peabody, passed away Wednesday morning at his residence, surrounded by his loving family after a 20-month battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Moura) Silveira. Jose was born on March 15, 1961, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, son of the late Manuel A. da Silveira and Maria D. (Ataide) Silveira. He and his family emigrated to the U.S. from Brazil in November of 1974, and settled in Peabody, where he made his home. Most recently he worked in route sales for Thomas English Muffins and was a proud Dunkin’ Franchisee. He worked extremely hard to provide for his family. He also enjoyed attending sporting events, especially football, loved learning about older model cars, even having a 1978 Corvette, loved dining out, enjoyed a cold Bud Light, but most importantly, being surrounded by his loving family, whether it was hosting a party, of just being around them. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Besides his loving wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his children, Nathan and Janel Silveira; his siblings, Maria Ottolia, Manuel Silveira, Connie Quadros, and Fernando Silveira, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosa Nicolau. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 2, from 4-8P.M. at Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 3, at 11A.M. at St. John the Baptist Church, 17 Chestnut St., Peabody. All attendees are required to wear masks and adhere to the social distancing guidelines. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
