Obituary of Margaret Marie (Hingston) Buckley

Margaret Marie (Hingston) Buckley, 83, wife of Stephen T. Buckley Jr. of Peabody, died Thursday October 5, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Buckley was born October 26, 1922 in Peabody daughter of the late Samuel and Margaret (Sullivan) Hingston. She was raised in Danvers and graduated from Holten High School. While attending Holten H.S., she was a member of the chorale. She then pursued her education at Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School in Boston concentrating her studies in office machinery and accounting. The family returned to Peabody in 1938 where she has since lived. During WW II, she worked as an accountant at G.E. in Lynn for 3 years and then for the Boston and Maine Railroad in Boston for 2 years. Mrs. Buckley was the owner and operator from 1957 until her retirement in 1997 of the Larrabee & Hingston Company in Peabody, a business that was started by her late father. She devoted her entire life to the care of her children, grandchildren and her parents in their later years. During her younger years, she summered at Rye Beach for many years. She had a special love for music and the many dogs that she had over the years. Mrs. Buckley was a fervent member of the Republican Party, enjoyed rug hooking, and was an excellent homemaker and baker. She loved watching most sports on television and the AKC Westminster Kennel Dog Show. She is survived by her children, Stephen T. “Steve” Buckley III, Timothy S. Buckley, Marie E. and her husband John J. Bishop and Joanne M. Buckley all of Peabody; a brother and his wife, George and Elena Hingston of Manchester-by-the- Sea; a daughter-in-law, Susan Buckley of Peabody, her grandchildren, Michael, Patric and Samantha Bishop, Emily Buckley all of Peabody, Sarah and her husband Matthew Lojko of Merrimac NH; 2 great grandchildren, Jonathan and Lauren Lojko of NH and several nieces and nephews. Her son Robert T. “Beaver” Buckley and her siblings John and Robert Hingston pre deceased her. Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., (new location) Peabody followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Salem Peabody line. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Danvers. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923 or the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston MA 02130.
