Obituary of Kostas Ikonomopoulos

Kostas Ikonomopoulos of Peabdoy, passed away on March 3rd, 2021 surrounded by family following a long battle of complications due to COVID-19. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Garufo) Ikonomopoulos. He was born in Vassara, Greece and moved to Massachusetts at a young age to live the American Dream. He was proud of his Greek heritage and loved to visit his home country. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, and friend for many people. He was a great chef and small business owner for over 30 years in Boston at both Deli One and Kingston Deli. He loved taking walks on Good Harbor Beach, attending Greek festivals and spending time with family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Janet, and his two daughters Angela Ikonos and Amanda Ikonos all of Peabody, MA. Additionally, he is survived by his mother in law Jennie Garufo of East Boston, and many sister and brother in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 9th, at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, MA at 11A.M, all are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, 226 North St., Salem, MA. All attendees are required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Heart Association.
