Obituary of Mary A. (Murray) Garniewicz

Mary A. (Murray) Garniewicz, 83, of West Peabody died unexpectedly Friday at her home. She was the wife of Edward J. Garniewicz Sr. with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was born in Boston, Ma on August 5, 1923, the daughter of the late Daniel and Rose (Rooney) Murray and after the early death of her mother was raised by the Rooney family in South Boston.. She had been a resident of West Peabody for the past 49 years. She was first employed in the payroll division of the New England Tel & Tel Co. in the Boston office for 8 years. Later she was a sales clerk in the Women’s Department at Filenes Store at the North Shore Mall for 25 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Garniewicz enjoyed Rug Hooking and also did some Bunka, a form of Japanese needlepoint. She also loved to travel with her husband and being for her family. Surviving her besides her husband are a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Michael Hastings of Hampton Falls, NH and a son, Edward J. Garniewicz Jr. of Peabody, 7 grandchildren, Michael Jr., Patrick, Sarah and Jessica Hastings all of Hampton Falls,NH, Kimberley and her husband Travis Condon of Ohio, Kelly and her husband Doug Rogers of Saugus and Patrick Garniewicz of Hampton, NH, 4 great grandchildren, Kayla, Kyle and Tyler Condon and Ava Rogers and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St Adelaide’s Church, Lowell St., West Peabody at 10:00 AM.
