Obituary of Hy Levenson

Hy Levenson, 91, of West Peabody, died Saturday at the Rosewood Nursing Home in West Peabody after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Madelyne C. (Mc Gee) Levenson. He was born in Boston, MA on January 31, 1915, and was educated there and later resided in Revere before moving to West Peabody 46 years ago. He had been a research machinist for the space program with the Raytheon Company in the Andover plant for over 30 years prior to his retirement. His real avocation was a talented professional musician and he was a drummer for many band leaders in the Boston area including Vaughn Munroe where he toured with him here and overseas. He had been a member of the Boston Musicians Union for 50 years and also belonged to the North Shore Musicians Union as well. In his later years he turned his talents to playing the piano. He was an avid fitness fan and exercised daily with his weights. He is survived by two daughters, Carol Remillard and Karen Levenson both of West Peabody, a son, Robert P. Levenson of Daly City, CA, 3 grandchildren, Lindsay Remillard of Rowley, Alicia and David Levenson of Daly City, CA, a nephew, Warren R. Ross of Stoughton and close family friends, The Jim Digianvittorio family of Peabody. He was the brother of the late Leo Levenson and Rose Ross. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway ,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Peter Torigian Life Center, 79 Central St., Peabody, 01960 in his memory.
