Obituary of Marie Webster

Marie Webster, a 63-year resident of Peabody Mass, died peacefully on March 17, 2021 at Beverly Hospital. She was 94. Her family was with her at her bedside. Marie was born Anna Maria DelVerde in 1926 in Paterson New Jersey and was the oldest of two children. She married her lifelong partner, Richard, and they remained together for 72 years until his death in 2019. They had one son, Bruce and had lived in Peabody for over 60 years. Marie was a compassionate wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a uniquely engaging soul who touched everyone she met with her empathy and inquisitive mind. She was a lifelong sports fan and followed her beloved teams, the NY football Giants, and NY Yankees for many decades. She would enjoy lively banter with Red Sox fans over the years as to who would prevail that season, the Sox or the Yanks. No one was more knowledgeable about sports than Marie. She was a devoted supporter of her grandsons' football careers throughout high school and college. She is survived by her son Bruce of Melrose Mass, her brother Thomas DelVerde and his wife Laurel Matthews of Sabastian Fla, her two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Greg Webster and his wife Jen Webster of East Longmeadow Mass, Lieutenant Ryan Webster (USCG) and his wife Kathryn DeVeau of Washington DC. A private memorial will be held.
