Obituary of John "Gerry" Farrelly

John Gerard “Gerry” Farrelly, 47, of Peabody, and formerly of Salem and Beverly, died on March 10, 2021 at his home. Born in Monaghan, Ireland, he was the son of Seamus Farrelly of Ireland and the late Brigid (McQuillan) Farrelly. He was raised and educated in Ireland and attended Garron National School and graduated from St. Macartons secondary school. He immigrated to the United States 25 years ago and had lived in Salem, Beverly, and for this past year, in Peabody. Gerry first started working as a bartender/ manager for O’Neil’s and at Kitty O’Shea’s on the North Shore for several years. He later was an independent contractor who worked in the painting industry. He was well known in the trades, from carpenters, plumbers, and electricians, as a man of good character and who had a great sense of humor and was well loved by all who knew him. Besides his loving parents, Gerry is survived by his son Trevor Farrelly of FL, his brothers, Noel, Damien, and Alan Farrelly, and his sister, Linda Maguire, all of Ireland, and by several nieces, nephews, and his former wife, Amanda Farrelly. All services were held in Monaghan, Ireland with burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Ireland on Saturday March 20, 2021.
