Obituary of Louis S. Machado
Louis S. Machado, 74, of Peabody, passed away Saturday morning at his residence, following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Idalina (Camara) Machado.
Louis was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal, on June 1, 1946, son of the late Jose Correia Machado and Clarenda R. (Da Silva) Machado. He was raised and educated there until emigrating to the United States in the 1970s.
Up until his recent retirement, Mr. Machado had owned his own Barbershop on Walnut St. in Peabody for over 28 years. It was a career in which he started when his was only 13 years old, and took great pride in.
He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church, where he attended mass up until his illness. He was also a member of the Azorean Brotherhood of the Divine Holy Ghost, Portuguese American War Veterans Post No. 1, and the Our Lady of Help Hall, all in Peabody.
Besides his loving wife, he is survived by his daughters, Vanessa Machado of Peabody, Melissa Machado of NH; his grandchildren, Elyssa Thomas, Mia Thomas, Jayden Thomas, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jasmine Hamilton, and his brothers, Jose and Gabriel Machado.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 11, from 5-7P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral mass and burial will be held privately.
