Obituary of Donald F Hynes

Donald F. Hynes, 72, of Salem and formerly of North Cambridge, died Saturday afternoon at Union Hospital in Lynn following a long illness. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Thomas and Violet (Irwin) Hynes. He was raised and educated in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School, class of 1940. He later lived in North Cambridge and has spent the last 11 years living in Salem. He was a buyer for ITECH Corporation in Lexington for over 30 years, retiring 20 years due to illness. He enjoyed listening to classical music, going to the North Shore Music Theatre and Theatres in Boston, and also sang in the choir at Arch Street in Boston. He also had an extensive collection of Oriental Art. He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews as well as several close friends. He was the brother of the late Edward, Bernard, Thomas, John, and Ralph Hynes. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, Cambridge, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in North Cambridge Catholic Cemetery.
