Obituary of Raymond T. White

Raymond T.White, 86, of Peabody, died Monday evening at his home with his family at his side after a short illness. He was born in Brighton, MA on December 23, 1919, the son of the late Louis H. and Lillian (Ayers) White and was raised in Salem graduating from Salem High School. He had resided in Peabody for the past 58 years. He had first worked for the CCC at Fort Devens with the Water reservoir districts. Later he was a machinist at the Barber-Stockwell Company in Cambridge for 15 years. In 1950 he became the proprietor of Raymond Hardware Store on Essex Street in Salem for 26 years until his retirement. He was recently made a life member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Salem. He was also an antique car collector and made a few Model A Fords and was a member of the North Shore Old Car Club. He enjoyed square dancing and had been a member of the Lancers of Salem and the Riverside Square Dance Club of Danvers. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Solovicos) White and later Phyllis (Watson) White. He is survived by a son, Raymond T. White Jr. of Ormond Beach, FL, 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Steve Schevis of Peabody and Betsy and Butch Ouellette of Danvers, eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a great great grandson, and many nieces and nephews and wonderful neighbors and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral Services will be held there on Friday at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
