Obituary of Bertha (Le Brun) Murphy

Bertha (LeBrun) Murphy, 90, of Peabody, died Monday at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Henry W. Murphy with whom she had shared 66 years of marriage. She was born in Lynn on June 23, 1916, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose- Anna (Beaupre) Le Brun and was raised in Lynn before moving to Peabody in 1944. She was very talented with arts and crafts and operated a ceramic class out of her home for many years. She also loved to cook and go traveling with her husband and enjoyed all her neighbors on Griffin Road. Her most endearing quality was being for and with her family throughout her ninety years. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Linda Murphy of Bow, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Daniel Rich of Danvers, a sister, Irene Welch of Peabody, 12 grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, her longtime dear friend of seventy years, Kay Beaulieu and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gerald Murphy and the late Barbara Alexuk and the sister of the late Frederick, Joseph, Al and Fabula Le Brun, Emma Fogarty and her twin brother, Roland Le Brun. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, So Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dana Farber Research Center, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115 in her memory.
