Obituary of Gregory F. Connelly
Gregory F. Connelly, 94, husband of the late Ruth Mary (O’Keefe) Connelly, died Monday October 23, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic Northshore.
Mr. Connelly was born on August 26, 1912 in Lawrence son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Gleason) Connelly. He raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Suffolk University. During WW II, he served as a Platoon Sgt. in the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Connelly was employed for 20 years as a salesman in the electronics department of Textron Corporation in Wilmington until his retirement in 1974. Prior to this, he was employed in the same capacity at Laboratory Electronics in Cambridge. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Leo Council 508 in Peabody, the Thomson Country Club in No. Reading. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed going to the Suffolk Downs Racetrack.
He is survived by a brother Frank Conley of Stoneham and several nieces and nephews. His siblings John Conley and Margaret Moriarty predeceased him.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday October 28, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. A committal of ashes will be held a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Father Flanagan's Girls and Boys Town, 300 Flanagan Blvd., PO Box 7000, Boys Town, NE 68010.
