Obituary of Evelyn I. (Caron) Kiernan
Evelyn I. (Caron) Kiernan, 89, of Peabody and formerly of Salem, died early Monday morning at the Radius Health Center in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph Kiernan.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude (Hill) Caron. She was raised and educated in Salem and has been living in Peabody for the past 65 years.
During World War II she worked on the first Jet Engine at the General Electric River Works Plant in Lynn. After the war she married and dedicated her life to raising her family.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Kathleen Kiernan of Jacksonville, Fla., two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jack Butler of Peabody and Janice and Wayne Atherton of Eliot, ME; three grandchildren, Jason and Katie Butler and Melissa Carloni and two great grandchildren, Griffen and Merrik Carloni. She was the sister of the late Emily Andersen and Thelma Southwick.
Her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:00 AM in St. John’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in her name to the Roger B. Trask Center, 77 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960.
