Obituary of Marguerite T. (McDonnell) Chenery

Marguerite T. (McDonnell) Chenery, 86, of Peabody, wife of the late Albert E. Chenery, died Tuesday October 31, 2006 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Chenery was born on November 9, 1919 in Peabody daughter of the late John and Anna (Carney) McDonnell. She was raised in Peabody and graduated from St. John the Baptist Girls High Scholl class of 1936. She was a lifelong resident of the city. Mrs. Chenery was employed from 1958 until 1985 as a sales clerk at J.J. Newbury at the Peabody Shopping Center. Prior to this she was employed at the Danvers Bleachery. She devoted her entire life to her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Chenery was one of the original parishioners at St. Ann Church in Peabody. She worked at the South School Voting Polls for over 40 years and also acted as a Warden for several years. In her youth she was an avid horseback rider. She was a beano enthusiast and also enjoyed knitting as a hobby. Mrs. Chenery is survived by a son, Brian E. Chenery of Peabody, a daughter and her husband, Claire M. and Anthony Tsapatsaris of Peabody; a brother John McDonnell of VA; 3 grandchildren, Michael Tsapatsaris, Kathleen “Katie” Tsapatsaris and Tara Chenery all of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Adele McDonnell of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. Her siblings James McDonnell and Anne Cunniff predeceased her. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., (downtown location)Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 140 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
