Peter A. Pavenski
PEABODYPeter A. Pavenski, 90, beloved husband of the late Stephanie (Iwan) Pavenski, died Wednesday evening at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center Hospital in Burlington following a brief illness.
Born in Detroit, MI, he lived in Peabody for most of his life. He was the son of the late Stanley and Anastacia (Gajko) Pavenski.
He was a decorated veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Army, and he earned two Purple Heart medals, a Silver Star, and Oak Leaf Cluster.
He worked in the Leather Industry for several companies in Peabody and Lynn.
Mr. Pavenski was a member of the P.L.A.V. Peabody Chapter, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Division 100 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Fidelity Post 1011 in Peabody. He was also active in the former St. Joseph’s Church Community of Peabody, the Holy Name Society, the St. Michael’s Society, and the Polish National Alliance (PNA), and the Knights of Columbus, Leo Council 508 of Peabody. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, travel, and most liked social gatherings with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Carole & George Lentz of Andover; two grandchildren, Tricia Lentz of Peabody and George & Christine Lentz of East Northport, NY; two great-grandchildren, Jack & Mackenzie Lentz of NY; a sister, Irene Pappas of Ipswich; two brothers, Theodore Pavenski of Safety Harbor, FL and Henry Pavenski of Peabody; , a sister-in-law, Matilda Iwan of Danvers, special dear friends, the Gallagher family of Topsfield, and numerous family members, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by his siblings Adam, Alice Wozniak, Cecilia Klemccuk, and Helen Regali.
His funeral will be held on Monday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Peabody/Salem line, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited.
A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 P.M.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
